Grounded in Compassion and Personalised Care
One size does not fit all when it comes to counselling.
Each person’s experiences, needs, and healing journey are unique, which is why I take a personalised approach, tailoring our sessions to what feels most helpful and supportive for you.
I also use best practices in counselling by regularly inviting your feedback—so you can let me know if something is working well or if you’d like to adjust our direction.
If you’re seeking Christian support, I can integrate scripture and biblical values into our sessions—with care and only at your request. Faith-based encouragement is offered alongside evidence-based therapeutic practices.
Below is an overview of the approaches I use and how they align with both trauma-informed counselling and biblical principles—for those who wish to include them.
Person-Centred Therapy: Valuing Your Voice and Autonomy
This approach is built on the belief that you are the expert on your own life. My role is to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel heard, valued, and empowered to make decisions about your healing journey.
Jesus himself demonstrated deep respect for each person’s dignity, never forcing people to follow Him but instead inviting them into transformation (Matthew 11:28).
In our sessions, I honour your autonomy while walking alongside you with compassion and support.
Narrative Therapy: Rewriting Your Story with Hope
Many women carry stories of pain, betrayal, or burnout that shape how they see themselves. Narrative therapy helps you examine and reframe these stories, highlighting resilience, strength, and the redemptive work of God in your life.
The Bible is filled with people whose stories were rewritten by God’s grace—Joseph, Ruth, and Paul, to name a few. Isaiah 61:3 speaks of God exchanging ‘beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning.’
As we work through your story, we can look at how God’s truth and love bring redemption and new beginnings.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): Renewing the Mind
CBT focuses on identifying and replacing unhelpful thinking patterns with truth-based, life-giving thoughts. This aligns beautifully with Romans 12:2: ‘Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.’
If negative thought patterns are contributing to anxiety, self-doubt, or guilt, we can work together to challenge them and replace them with thoughts grounded in God’s truth and love.
Art Therapy: Processing, Grounding, and Expressing Emotion
Sometimes, words aren’t enough to process deep emotions. Therapeutic art provides a creative and gentle way to explore feelings, reduce stress, and connect with God through creative expression.
Scripture speaks of creativity as a reflection of God’s own nature (Exodus 35:31-32).
Whether through painting, journaling, or mixed media, art can be a powerful tool for grounding and healing, especially when emotions feel overwhelming or difficult to verbalise.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): Overcoming Worry and Fear
ACT offers practical exercises to help you move beyond fear, worry, and emotional pain by embracing what truly matters. Rather than fighting difficult emotions, ACT helps you develop a new relationship with them, one based on trust in God’s strength rather than self-reliance.
Jesus reminds us in Matthew 6:34 not to be consumed by worry about tomorrow.
Through ACT, we can explore ways to live in the present moment, aligned with your values and faith in God’s goodness.
Solution-Focused Therapy: Moving Towards Hopeful Change
This approach helps you set practical, achievable goals for the future, focusing on strengths and solutions rather than being stuck in past struggles.
Philippians 3:13-14 encourages us to ‘forget what is behind and strain toward what is ahead.’
Whether you are seeking to rebuild trust, restore your peace, or step into a new season of life, we can work together to take small but meaningful steps toward your goals.
Therapeutic Journaling: A Gentle Space to Play, Process, and Pray
Therapeutic journaling offers a safe and creative outlet for exploring thoughts, feelings, and life experiences. It can involve both traditional written journaling and creative/visual journaling, using mixed media to express what words cannot.
For faith-based clients, journaling can also be a way to connect with God, offering up your thoughts and emotions in an honest, reflective dialogue.
Many Psalms are themselves a form of therapeutic journaling, with David expressing his fears, hopes, and prayers to God. Psalm 62:8 encourages us to ‘pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge.’
Through therapeutic journaling, we create a gentle and sacred space where you can explore your story, express your emotions, and invite insight and healing into your journey.
Somatic Practices: Healing Through the Body
Many women experience stress, tension, and emotional overload that are stored in their bodies, affecting their physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Somatic practices help you connect with your body’s natural ability to heal by tuning into the sensations you’re feeling, such as tightness, warmth, or lightness, and using gentle movements and breath to release tension and restore balance.
God has designed our bodies with incredible mechanisms for healing and restoration. Just as in Psalm 23, where we are led beside still waters for restoration, somatic practices invite us to slow down and listen to what our bodies are telling us—honouring the intricate connection between body, mind, and spirit.
By incorporating somatic practices into our work together, we can explore how to release stored tension, regulate your nervous system, and invite peace and relaxation. This process helps you reconnect with your body, find balance, and embrace the healing and peace God desires for you.
If you have any questions about these approaches or how they might support you, I’m happy to discuss them before we get started.
Whether or not you choose faith-based integration, my goal is to offer a compassionate and collaborative space that supports your wellbeing and goals.
If you’re ready to begin, I look forward to walking this journey with you.
